Leningrad’s final day under siege
Russia celebrates the Day of Military Glory every January 27. In January 1944, the Red Army launched a large offensive near Leningrad, now St. Petersburg, pushing German forces back and lifting the 872-day siege of the city on January 27. (FC Novosti 27Jan12)
Refuelling System Will Be Built In Pulkovo Airport
A €50m ($64.4m) centralised refuelling system will be built in St Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport to
provide aircraft with aviation fuel efficiently and without interruptions. Construction is expected to
end in late 2013. The system will render world-level fuel reception, storage and feeding services.
